A Fried Chicken and Mac n Cheese party

Frank’s southern-fried chicken
On Sunday, a group of friends gathered at Sarah’s house with the sole intent of stuffing themselves crazy with nine types of mac n cheese and three kinds of fried chicken. (Not to mention ice-cream, cookies, and other sundry junkie things.)

Viv’s garlic chicken wings, ready for frying

my six-cheese mac n cheese, with bacon and caramelized onions, and red pepper flakes

a four-cheese mac n cheese–this was excellent!

Lisa’s Dungeness crab mac n cheese (there were two crab macs, but the other photo turned out blurry)

Valentina’s beautiful garlic and mascarpone mac n cheese

Ashlyn’s beautifully moist, teeny tiny madelines
I don’t know how many Lactaids I had to pop last night to save me from gastronomical distress, but it was a lot, and it was worth it. I especially liked Valentina’s garlic and marscapone mac n cheese, because the flavor was quite delicate, and the presentation was so unique. I also scarfed down too many of Viv’s garlic wings. Needless to say, I reeked.
Apologies for the poor quality of the photos–I didn’t have optimal lighting, and my skills are not good enough to take decent pics in low light.
Tomorrow, I’m meeting a friend for brunch at a restaurant I’m reviewing, and checking out Paris Grocery, the new French grocery store opened by the wonderful people who brought us Spanish Table. I won’t take photos at either place, but I promise I’ll take photos of the Thai dinner we’re having tomorrow night for a non-review meal with some friends!

I wish there were a tactful way to correct spelling, but there’s not: it’s “mascarpone.” Valentina’s dish is so beautiful. I’m impressed you managed to take a photo before sticking a fork into it!

Laurie: Thanks for letting me know! Mascarpone is one word that I always spell incorrectly. I believe I pronounce it incorrectly as well.

That was a fun evening, thanks for taking some pics of the dishes. There was another bank of counter lights that we could’ve turned on to brighten up some of the kitchen shots. But yeah, the dining room is kind of dark.

Frank–I hope you didn’t take it the wrong way, my skills are to blame, not the lighting.
Thanks everyone–it was a great evening!

Thanks for posting these, and giving us the chance to revisit and remember such a wonderful evening!
Btw, I’ve been having your mac ‘n cheese by-the-bite the whole week. Today, I’ll have the last portion. It “ages” beautifully

I was so sorry to miss that party! Everything looks amazing. Also, I covet what I can see of that kitchen.
